SMM, December 27:
On Sunday night, heavy pollution weather orange alerts were reissued in Anhui, leading to low operating rates at local secondary lead smelters, with previously shut-down enterprises still not resuming operations. In Shandong, the heavy pollution weather alert was lifted on Thursday, and production has now resumed.
Notably, due to the frequent environmental protection alerts recently, the digestion of raw material inventory by enterprises has been slow, leaving inventory slightly ample. As shown in the chart below, based on the current production situation of smelters, the existing raw material inventory can last for 19 days, exceeding the historical dynamic average by approximately 6 days.
Next week, attention should be paid to the impact of heavy pollution weather changes on the production of secondary lead smelters.
